Sue “Shine” Onderdonk has been a full time Realtor® since 2007. Her hard work and dedication has resulted in well over a hundred sales. She works with buyers, sellers, landlords and renters in Orange, Rockland and New Jersey. Out of necessity Sue became an expert in the Greenwood Lake and Warwick area. She considers herself extremely lucky to work and live in a place that she loves so much – Greenwood Lake.
Sue’s background in counseling, broadcasting and journalism contribute to her success. She enjoys all aspects of real estate from consulting, staging, marketing, educating and negotiating. She has been the recipient of numerous awards over the years commemorating her achievements, most recently the “Platinum 2021” sales award. Her focus is always on helping people to achieve their goals.
Real estate is in her blood! Her grandfather owned Frank J. Shine Real Estate and Insurance in Brooklyn, NY. When Sue is not working she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, or hiking with the dogs. She has two sons – her younger son attends Warwick Valley HS and her older son is a U.S. Marine recruit.
I love living and working in the Greenwood Lake and Warwick area. This area is one of the best kept secrets in New York. The pace is slower, the prices are lower and the schools are excellent. People are friendly and the surroundings are beautiful. Our proximity to the city attracts many buyers, both full time homeowners and weekenders looking for place to vacation and relax. I am also licensed and sell homes in NJ. I am familiar with many areas as I grew up in Rockland County, spent my summers in Breezy Pt, Queens, NY. As a college student I attended school in the BX and NYC then moved to Westchester and rented in Peekskill, Ossining, Croton on Hudson and Irvington.
Greenwood Lake is a 9 mile lake that stretches between New York and New Jersey. It's the largest lake in Orange County and it's the only motor boat lake in the area. The lake is surrounded by mountains pefect for those who like to hike, bike, ski, camp and hunt. The Thomas P. Morahan waterfront park is a main attraction in Greenwood Lake. On weekends there are free musical concerts and events open to the public. In addition there is a lifeguarded beach area, playground, picnic area, snack booth and public restroom. Half of Greenwood Lake is in NJ so I became licensed in NJ 5 years ago and I cover Passaic, Sussex and Bergen also.
Warwick is filled with rolling hills, farmland, and winerys. The village is quaint yet sophisticated with great shops, busy restaurants, and loads of community events. Warwick and Greenwood Lake are on the NJ transit busline for those commuting to NYC. In addition, there is a nearby Metro North train service from Tuxedo Park or Monroe, NY.
I moved to Orange County in 2005. I was attracted to the open spaces and lower prices! I currently reside in Greenwood Lake, NY with my dogs. I like to garden, hike, cook, read, write, decorate, volunteer & SELL REAL ESTATE! Since 2007 I have received various awards sand have sold countless homes. This lends to my reputation, business skills, drive and dedication. I'm a loyal individual that has remained with the Rand company for fifteen years. I love the support, training, and know this is shallow but I like the green and white logo and think I look pretty good in those colors.- (OK that was a test to see if you are truly still reading my bio).
This is a second career for me. I have a masters in education & counseling . I worked as a school counselor for many years. Since I had two young sons and needed to DRIVE to the bustop FOUR times a day, the idea of having a career that allowed me to create my own schedule & be a, "stay at home" mom was very appealing. I'm so glad I was able to have that time with my sons. My older son is now a US Marine and my younger son Jimmy is a Warwick Valley HS student. I have always had an interest in selling real estate and it must be in the blood. My grandfather, Frank Shine, was both a NYC fireman and he owned his own real estate agency in Brooklyn called Shine Realty (slogan - "Call the Lucky Irishman.")
I remember the excitement of buying my first home (actually the second one was much more exciting) - it is this enthusiasm that I want to share with you - whether you are buying, selling or renting.
